Lac de Géronde – mountain lake situated in Sierre (German: Siders) in the canton Valais, Switzerland is one of the favourites places to meet and relax for habitants and guests of the town.

There are two lakes in Sierre – a small, intimate one and the large one – Lac de Géronde – an ideal place for a relaxing walk or family/friends activities on the big lawn. Lake is easily accessible – it takes only 15 minutes walk from Sierre train station. It is situated between hills and vineyards – a truly beautiful landscape and breathtaking views during the tour around the lake are guaranteed.

While making a tour around the lake you will notice an ‘island of ducks’ – not surprising as there are many ducks living in the lake. Among mountains and vineyards – scenery changing colours each season but keeping its beauty all year long.

Swimming in the lake is forbidden, however in the season between June and September (always check official opening months) you can spend a day in baths of Géronde situated just next to the lake.

How you can get there?

You can take a train to Sierre in canton Valais. Lake is situated only 15 minutes walk from the train station – no hiking equipment required.

Lac Bleu – a beautifully situated lake surrounded by mountains in canton Valais, Switzerland. If you are looking for a breathtaking views of the lake surrounded by Swiss mountains – it is a perfect choice. You can admire blue lake situated 2090m above see level after 45 min of hike from La Gouille in the village Arolla. Worth to visit any season – changing colours but keeping its charm. It is a perfect hike even for the kids as the hike is not very demanding.

How to get there?

You can take a train to Sion and then a bus to La Gouille, Arolla. There is a parking if you go by a car.

Next to the bus stop in La Gouille, there is a charming wooden house where you can eat some delicious local Swiss dishes or drink hot wine in winter with magnificent view out of the windows.
